Create an Airdrop

What is an Airdrop? An airdrop is a marketing strategy used by cryptocurrency projects to distribute free tokens to users. These tokens are often sent to wallets to promote the project, reward early adopters, or encourage community engagement.

Why Conduct an Airdrop? Projects use airdrops to generate awareness, build a strong community, reward supporters, and decentralize token distribution. They can also incentivize early adoption and boost on-chain activity, helping to kickstart the project’s ecosystem.

Disclaimer: Once tokens are committed to the airdrop, the process can not be cancelled or modified to reduce the number of tokens. Please ensure you have accurately allocated the necessary amount of tokens to meet your airdrop requirements.

Create New Airdrop

  1. Go to https://gemlaunch.io/create-airdrop

  2. Paste your token address into the Token Address section. Your token name, symbol, and decimals will display automatically. Verify that the details are correct, then click Next.

  1. Enter the required airdrop information:

  • Airdrop Title, Logo URL, and Full Website URL are required fields.

  • The Logo URL must end with a supported image format (png, jpg, jpeg).

  1. Once completed, click Submit.

  2. MetaMask will prompt you to confirm the transaction and display the required fee. If you agree, click Confirm if everything is correct to complete the process.

Set Airdrop Allocation

  1. Prepare a list of wallet addresses for the airdrop, then click Set Allocations.

In the pop-up, add addresses and amounts to your Users Allocation list, separating each address and amount with a new line. Use a comma (,) to separate the address and amount for each entry.

The address below list will be used in the example below:

You can upload a CSV document with a list of entries in this format using the Upload CSV button on this screen.

  1. Click Add after adding the addresses and their token allocation values. MetaMask will ask you to confirm the transaction and display the fee. Click Confirm to finish the process.

  2. After successful allocation, the airdrop details will display on the airdrop page.

Set Vesting (Optional)

After clicking Set Vesting, a pop-up box will appear. Enter the following important parameters:

  • TGE Release Percent (%): The percentage of tokens released initially.

  • Cycle Release Percent (%): The percentage of tokens released in each cycle following the initial release.

  • Cycle (days): The interval (in days) between each token release cycle. For long vesting periods be sure to appropriately calculate. For example: There is approximately 30 days in a month.

Example:

  • An airdrop participant has 1000 tokens to be vested in total.

  • TGE Release: 40% (400 tokens at TGE)

  • Cycle Release: 20% for 3 cycles (200 tokens each cycle)

  • Cycle Duration: 30 days (Approx 1 month)

Let’s imagine that your presale on Gemlaunch ended on the 5th of January, the example airdrop participant can claim 1000 x 40% = 400 tokens after your token has listing goes live.

Every month (30 Days) thereafter, on the 4th of February, March and April, he can claim the next batches, 1000 x 20% = 200 tokens each batch.

In this case you would enter the following information:

TGE release percent (%): 40

Cycle release percent (%): 20

Cycle (days): 30

  1. Click Set Vesting after entering these values. MetaMask will ask you to confirm the transaction and show the fee. Click Confirm to complete.

Additional Actions

  1. Remove Allocations: Click Remove All Allocations if needed.

  2. Exclude Fees: Exclude fees, dividends, and max transactions for the airdrop address, which can be found on your airdrop page.

Start the Airdrop

You can only start the airdrop after your presale pool has been finalized. Once finalized:

  1. Before starting the airdrop, you must exclude fees, dividends and max tx for airdrop address. You can find your airdrop address on your airdrop page.

  2. Go to your airdrop page via https://www.gemlaunch.io/#/airdrop-list/.

  3. Under Created By You, select View Airdrop

  1. Click Start Airdrop.

  2. You will see the total tokens required for the airdrop (including a 1% fee).

  3. Choose to Start Now if you wish to begin immediately.

  1. Alternately you can set a specific start time as shown in the example below:

  1. Click Approve.

  2. MetaMask will prompt you to confirm the transaction and display the required fee. Click Confirm to finalize the process.

Claim Airdrop

Airdrop participants can claim their airdrop allocations by simply following the below steps:

  1. Go to https://www.gemlaunch.io/#/airdrop-list/, then navigate to My Airdrops -> View Airdrop.

  1. Check the Claimable Tokens section, then click Claim

  2. MetaMask will prompt you to confirm the transaction and show the fee. Click Confirm to complete the claim process.
